“EELISA Prototype Contest” is a 4-day event, organized by the EELISA network, in collaboration with JOSEPHS, The Open Innovation Lab at FAU University in Nuremberg, during which 25 applicants had the opportunity to participate by showing developed prototypes (or prototype ideas) to an audience of experts. The initiative, held Dec. 10-13, included a workshop, taught by experts in Open Innovation, a pitch training session, and a concluding moment where participants had the opportunity to set up their own test space, get feedback from professionals at a public event, and compete for the title of best prototype in the contest.
Among the winners, the prototype developed by Luca Dolfi, a researcher at the BIO@SNS Laboratory and part of Prof. Alessandro Cellerino’s research team, received a mention, taking second place. The proposed solution consists of an automated aquarium, designed primarily for research, that offers a complete system of essential functions such as: precise light control, motorized feeding system, real-time monitoring of water parameters, and recording of fish in the tank for behavioral studies. These features provide researchers with an effective and easy-to-use tool for data collection and fish management while maintaining flexibility and convenience.
