The Normale participates in several initiatives to promote research and innovation in collaboration with local companies:
- NEST Competence Center on Nanotechnologies, funded by the Tuscany Region, is a service center for local companies. It benefits from state-of-the-art equipment within a cleanroom with cleanliness class up to ISO 6.
- FELIX infrastructure project, in collaboration with the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, University of Pisa, and Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia and funded by the Tuscany Region, offers technological services to support research and development in high technology sectors for companies. These sectors include materials and active and passive photonic and electronic devices, design and realization of photonic and electronic devices and circuits, packaging of integrated photonic components and photonic/electronic hybrid components.
- National High-Specialization Competence Center ARTES 4.0, in which the Normale is engaged with its Science Class in awareness, training, innovation, and demonstration activities together with affiliated companies on topics such as new materials, additive manufacturing, and sensing.
- Tuscany X.O European project for the creation of a European Digital Innovation Hub aimed at promoting technology transfer to SMEs for the adoption of advanced digital technologies, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, cybersecurity, using a catalog of specific and targeted services.
