SNS 5.0 Research, innovation and impact
Module 1. The collaboration with companies and the «transformation» of knowledge and open innovation
Collaboration in the universities between the world of research and private companies has proliferated, arising from the reciprocal demands of interaction for attaining specific objectives: for research, interaction with the companies and with society creates incentives and resources for new study openings, with potential impact on the surrounding environment; for the companies, it is an opportunity to introduce innovation from within and to enhance their potential to supply products/services to society.
The dynamics of the collaborations between research and private companies potentially involve all the disciplines, and have over time taken on forms unique to the Scuola, which will be described through concrete examples by some of its protagonists.
Open Innovation, that is, the opening up of the private and industrial world to collaboration with research, is a structured and established phenomenon, which will be presented not only in its historical and cultural context but also in its operational and concrete aspect, by some of the main protagonists of success stories of the local area and of the EELISA network.
