Multiphoton photoreleasing system, based on click-chemistry functionalized gold nanoparticles, for biological applications

A carrier for the spatially and temporally controlled release of an active agent comprising gold nanoparticles coated with a surfactant and an active agent bound to said surfactant by means of a photocleavable bond.

Patent abstract

A carrier for the spatially and temporally controlled release of an active agent comprising gold nanoparticles coated with a surfactant and an active agent bound to the said surfactant by means of a photocleavable bond; the said carrier is capable of releasing the active agent when exposed to light radiation of wavelengths longer than 400 nm included in the visible or near-infrared (NIR) region through a multiple photon effect. In particular, a carrier is described in which the group having a photolabile bond is 1,2,3-triazole, which can be obtained, for example, by a click chemistry reaction between gold particles on the surface of which are chemiadsorbed peptide molecules having a free terminal carboxylic group and an alkyne side group and an azide of the active agent.
