The Life Sciences sector continues to stand out as one of the most dynamic arenas for technology transfer and the creation of deep-tech enterprises rooted in research excellence. In this framework, Meet in Italy for Life Sciences (MIT4LS 2026) – Italy’s flagship matchmaking event for the sector, promoted by the ALISEI National Technological Cluster for Life Sciences – returns with its newly launched initiative, Genesis4LS (the evolution of its previous business development formats).
A key highlight of this edition is the expanded eligibility criteria: in addition to established startups, the call specifically targets research teams and academic spin-offs working on innovative projects with high commercial potential (with a TRL between 3 and 5) across Biotech, Medtech, Digital Health, Pharmaceuticals, and related supply chains.
The Three Pillars of Genesis4LS
To match the varying maturity levels of incoming innovations, the program is structured into three distinct tracks:
-
Tech Transfer: Tailored specifically for research groups and university spin-offs, focusing on maximizing the value of scientific discoveries, intellectual property protection, and transitioning from the lab to the market.
-
Growth: Dedicated to startups ready to scale, with an emphasis on go-to-market strategies, fundraising, and business development.
-
BRIDGE – Biomanufacturing: A vertical track centered on manufacturing processes, scale-up, and industrialization within the biomanufacturing sector.
Training, Mentorship, and Networking
Selected projects will benefit from tailored mentorship sessions and specialized workshops led by industry experts. The training modules will cover critical challenges for academic innovators: from advanced pitching techniques and engaging with venture capitalists to securing funding grants, patent protection, clinical strategies, and procurement processes.
The program will culminate on October 13 and 14, 2026, in Rome during the main MIT4LS event, where finalists will pitch their projects to an elite audience of international investors, venture capitalists, business angels, and corporate partners.
How to Participate
Participation in the program is free of charge. Applications, including the project pitch deck, must be submitted by June 6, 2026 (23:59 CET).
